Here at Nilorn, we believe it is vital to stay ahead of the game and to be at the cutting edge of the latest trends in design and fashion. Inspiration is an essential part of the creative process, and with that in mind some of our design team recently travelled to one of the most beautiful and fashion conscience cities in Europe – Stockholm, Sweden.
The city is spread across 14 islands, each with its own unique character but with many bridges connecting them making it compact and easy to get around. We explored the ultra modern shopping malls in Norrmalm, the central area, oozing with the minimalistic Scandinavian style.
We visited Gamla Stan – the old town – very much in contrast, with its narrow cobbled streets and mustard coloured buildings. Ornate architecture, individual boutiques and art galleries give this area a tranquil, friendly feel.
Venturing across another bridge links to Södermalm – the more hip, creative district. Here there was a mix of vintage stores such as Herr Jut, eclectic shops such as Grandpa and some fantastic restaurants.
We took some time out to cross the picturesque Skeppsholmsbron bridge and visit the Modena Museek, which holds one of Europe’s greatest collections of modern art. We were inspired by the works of Picasso, Dali and interior designer Josef Franks.
Stockholm is a wonderfully innovative city, with trend setting design and inspiring architecture – all with a healthy dose of acclaimed Nordic chic.
